A Fun Saturday!
First, I was able to finish off a piece for a client (last piece for the year!). I then put together the red Burda turtle dress. It is on the dress form now for the skirt to hem to drop before trimming and hemming. I'll finish this up on Monday.
I also went out to the library and shopping with my daughter this afternoon. We found shoes for her Christmas dress and a belt for the Burda turtle:
We then came home to play in the workroom. The first thing we did was to fix her black flats. One of the plain center of one of the flowers came off and was lost. With a little glue and two buttons, we fixed the shoes and they're cuter than before.
We then went on to making an artful sort of t-shirt. She loves the screen printed and embellished t-shirts in the stores, but doesn't like the price tags. We started with an old white t-shirt and added some screen printing, fused some lace and finished it with some gold glitter finish.
She had a lot of fun and enjoyed the process. There were some things that weren't perfect about the screen printing, but she didn't care. It was interesting to note that she was more interested in the overall process and effect rather than if everything was exactly perfect. I think that sometimes as adults we can't see the forest for the trees and focus on the minute details of a project rather than just enjoying the process of creating art.
My happy girl, which means we're both happy!
Parting Shot: Pattern Piece. Hmm, I'm not sure DKNY originally designed a cat shaped piece for this pattern.

I love your daughter's tee and it was great that you got time to spend together making it!
That is a doggone *cute* t-shirt! Awesome placement of design elements and use of color. Your daughter should justifiably be exceedingly proud of herself for a job well done. :-)
Your daughter has a great eye for design! Her t-shirt looks great. Love all the creative touches (the buttons on the shoes, etc). Love the cat the best, though :)
Her shirt is super cool!
Wow, what a creative day for both of you! And love the cat....who must think you reserved that space just for him.

I am amazed the cat is not sitting on the pattern paper! Love the tee!
Really great job on the t-shirt! And your dress too>
Love the red turtle dress and your daughters tee!
Great red dress for winter! Your daughters artistic vision is wonderful. Great job!
Very cute and clever shirt! Very current look. Love you red burda turtle neck dress too.
Love your daughter's t-shirt. Glad that you can enjoy the creative process together. I must say I really miss doing creative things with my kids. Unfortunately they grow up, move away and that's the end of that. It was a lot of fun while it lasted. (Oh - and your dress turned out great!)
The t-shirt is perfect! I can't wait until my 2 are old enough to enjoy crafty things (I hope the WILL enjoy at least some crafty things....). And yes, every good dress requires cat hair :)
You're so lucky. My cat would be shredding the pattern pieces, with delight!
Looks like creativity runs in your family. Your daughter's t-shirt looks fantastic!
I wish my cats could keep me company in the sewing room. But they are just like yours - they only get in the way! :-)
Your daughter's t-shirt came out really awesome!!
