Refashion #3 - The Aqua Print Dress

Almost . . .

Thanks for all the compliments on the refashions!  I am much happier with the new versions, and it wasn't that hard to do.  If you've got pieces in your wardrobe you don't wear, take a look at them and see if you can refashion them.  Not all pieces can be saved, but maybe someone else will love them more than you did - at least that's what I hope when I donate things!

I almost got it done, but it just didn't happen yesterday.  I'm pretty close - all I need to do is to sew on and finish the neck binding and add a hook/eye.  The binding is even pinned in place:

So far, it is turning out really well, I've got the back zipper I wanted and it went in nicely the first time, without basting half a dozen times:

I was also able to save the pocket on the skirt.  I ended up gathering the front a little more than the back to make sure the pocket was in the right place, but it doesn't look uneven.

Maybe tonight I'll get that binding finished up, if not, then definitely tomorrow morning.  I want to move on to working on a project that I'm now going to starting calling The Holy Grail - a jeans pattern.  I've got two new patterns I want to try and it should be interesting if nothing else.

Parting Shot:  Yellow.  Here's a few pictures of the yellow shirt I finished last week.  I wore it this way on Saturday with a little bit of turquoise and a yellow cardigan.  It was a bit too cool to wear it by itself, as in the last photo.

Cute little yellow blouse. What pattern did you use? I love that bird fabric too!

You've already inspired me to refashion. I have two dresses pulled from my cupboard and moved to the 'must do' pile in my sewing room. The yellow blouse looks lovely. My sewing room is painted that colour. I wear yellow a lot in winter, it's such a cheerful colour.

What ever happened to those junior petite patterns? There was a time when that was all I used. I guess they went the way of one size pattern envelopes and the dinosaur.

Your new pattern is fabulous. I think this will look great on you. Very interesting yoke design. Yellow shirt is really cute. I love yellow too!
