Another Quick Project - Simplicity 3935

aka Dragon Drawers

At least that's what my husband has dubbed them.  After going through my son's clothes, we found he only needed a pair of pajama shorts and some t-shirts for summer.  Since I was making a trip to Jo-ann's today, I told my son he could pick out some fabric for some new pajama shorts.  He chose this fabric with dragons and clouds.

For such a quick project, I chose Simplicity 3935.  I've made this pattern several times before and the pants are nothing unusual - just your usual elastic waist pajama pants.

I did make a few changes to the pattern.  First, I shortened the pants into shorts.  Then, I joined the two pattern pieces and cut one large piece, eliminating the side seams and making the shorts quicker to construct.

For the elastic casing, I serged the top edge, turned it down 1" and stitched it.  I've included a ribbon tag to distinguish front from and fack.

The hems were also serged, turned up once and topstitched.  Quick and easy.

I did get the Burda skirt traced and cut out, so maybe tomorrow I'll get to work on it!

Thank you for the compliments on the iris quilt!  It was fun to look through some of my old pictures of my irises and pick out just the right ones before printing them up.  Although the quilt wasn't what I first envisioned, I'm still happy with how it turned out.

Parting Shot:  Jewelry.  My daughter wanted to make a some jewelry, so I let her pick out some beads from the collection and let her design it.  I picked up the wire wrapped pendant at my local bead shop while I was out today.

That's great fabric your son picked out for the pajama shorts. They turned out really cute.

Your daughter did a beautiful job making the jewelry. She's turning out just like her mama.
