One Of Those Days . . .

Today has been one of those days in which I did a lot of sewing related stuff, but no actual sewing, at least not yet. The night is still young. So what did I do today?

  • I organized all the stuff I got from my friend who is cleaning out her sewing/craft collection. I kept some of the stuff, but some of it will be used for costumes, some donated and some given away. As you can see from the scene below, there was a lot of stuff, and this wasn't all of it.
  • I met with a client who loved the dress I made for a wedding she attended on Saturday and now wants a red dress for the holiday season and has brought more alterations. She described what she wanted and I came up with a style that I think will work.
  • I started to drape and organize my ideas for a costume. We're starting to work on the more ornate costumes now, so I'm working on this one for the daughter of a wealthy man. She's getting a three layer drape at the shoulders that hangs down the back and a wide bejeweled belt so far. We'll add more jewelry to the costume and a headdress of some kind and I think it will be done. I should have this one done by Monday.

  • The we did sewing related errands like shipping stuff at the post office and going to purchase more packing tape for shipping stuff.
Did I cut out my trousers yet? No, not yet and it doesn't look like I'll get a free 30 minutes to do so today. I need to trace and alter the pattern anyway, so this is first on my list for tomorrow!

Parting Shot: Helper. I'm not sure I needed this sort of help organizing the new stuff I got.

BTDT! It does seriously cut into sewing time, but once all is organized you will have more to fill your palette. I am halfway thru Ima's goodies and just had to take a break. We'll have to egg each other on.

I also need to do some organizing, but I've decided I'm going to sew first. As far as your "help", when that big gust of wind comes blowing thru the room, you'll be glad he was there, firmly holding things down. Just pay no attention to the fact that the big gust of wind was generated by the other cats playing Nascar! Interesting, my comment verification word is "stablint". Are the internets trying to tell me to organize first???

Such a male cat trait, always being smack-dab in the middle of things.

You have a lot on the go! Wellie looks right at home there :)

Cats, Wellie in particular, make the perfect fabric weights. Not too heavy, not too light. Wellie was just helping gravity keep everything under control - and protected from strong gusts of wind!

Aww love the parting shot. I had an orange and white that helped me "ship". He'd climb into the boxes and made sure they were ok. Sometimes he'd forget to come out and he'd sleep in there all day. ;)
