See? No Garden Path today. I've been really wanting to sew on other things, but I need to get Garden Path done, too. While I'm finishing up GP, I've been planning other things. My daughter needs a new church wardrobe this winter - she's worn the same one for two years now and has grown out of *everything*. That I've figured out, but still need to purchase most of the fabrics. She'll be getting 3 tops, 2 skirts and a jacket, plus a special Christmas dress. That should be enough for her to mix and match for different looks.
My son wants some school clothes, too. He's easy to please with plaid shirts and cool trousers. I actually think I'll be making these things in the next few weeks.
I plan to edit my church wardrobe this winter, by getting rid of some outfits and adding new ones. The plan is to make Vogue 1132, in the blue wool plaid shown below if there is enough fabric. It is 60" wide, but there is less than 4 yards. Even being petite might not be enough to get the suit out of that fabric.
Before I cut the wool, I plan to make the Vogue 1132 jacket in the red shown on the right, as a trial run, and then make a straight skirt or sheath dress out of the fabric on the left. I'll need to be careful to keep that simple, as I could easily end up looking like an old couch. That might take some careful print planning. I certainly wouldn't want to end up with a large flower on my butt, either.
Of course, I've got a red dress planned, too. Not sure of the pattern just yet. I'm thinking something simple. I should be able to finish the vest shown below soon, too. I got it fitted today and will make the lining tomorrow. I might even get the lining installed and finished on Sunday.
I know that seems like a lot of red, but my church wardrobe has quite a bit of brown and black and not much color in it right now.For things like ensemble practice and more casual church events, I am going to make a skirt out of the corduroy on the left and a few Jalie tops out of the two knits on the right.
I think that should keep me plenty busy this fall/winter, right?!? Really, some of these items will be very easy to sew and I should have them done quickly (like the Jalie tops). Other things I might not get to this upcoming season. That's ok - it is always fun to plan!Parting Shot: Woodchuck. Yes, you know you live out in the country when you see woodchucks on your front lawn. Sigh.

Sounds like a wonderful plan. Love all the red.
I was also enamored with the plaid Vogue suit - until I read this post by Mary Beth (http://thesewingdivas.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/vogue-1132-fall-2009/). She found loads of troubles with the fit of the suit. Just thinking you should take a look!
Busy plans! Love those knits for the Jalie tops. Hope you can get the suit out of that fabric - good luck.
I love everything you have planned and how everything will coordinate so well together.
Beautiful plans for upcoming things. I agree, ours is buzzards/vultures. When you see one walking down the street... I tried to get a good picture, but my *cat* scared it off, believe it or not!
I don't know if I would know a woodchuck if I saw one!
I'm really interested in seeing how Vogue 1132 turns out for you especially since you only want to make the jacket!
Ummm that woodchuck looks like he's friends with the rabbits, deer and possum that are frequently out in the mornings when I'm making my way to the bus stop. *LOL*
Does a woodchuck chuckwood? :-)
I love all your plans, red will be a great colour with your current brown and black, and that plaid will be perfect for the suit, I do hope you have enough fabric!
I love planning too, half the fun of making garments is in the planning, the other half is if I ever get round to sewing up all my plans :-)
Lots of good plans, it's such fun making a plan, even when you don't get round to making all. beautiful plaid fabric and the red vest is gorgeous.
Excellent plans! Love that red!
I loved that suit when I first saw it. Hope it works out for you. Look forward to seeing all these new things.
