Patrones #276, Model #30, Stefanel Skirt
Surprising, huh, not vintage? While this isn't the most complicated skirt, I think it will be a good addition to my summer wardrobe. It was very easy to make - the pattern pieces are provided for the yoke only, with the skirt pieces being cut as large rectangles. If you're a quick reader, you'll note that this is the skirt from the same outfit as Tany's recent coral jacket. Actually, the two pieces coordinate, but I doubt they'll ever be on the same continent at the same time!

The fabric is a lightweight cotton (it is thin - Ann recommends underlining) from Gorgeous Fabrics, and there are only a few yards left. I underlined in yellow batiste. In order to save as much fabric as possible - I'm thinking of a sleeveless blouse to match the skirt - I made the underskirt in batiste. Of course, you know that the only yellow batiste available to me locally does not quite match the yellow of the skirt. To solve this problem, I attached a band to the bottom of the underskirt to match the overskirt.
To do so, I first calculated the width of the band that I wanted and added seam allowances, then cut that width in strips long to equal the circumference of the hem when seamed together. After seaming the pieces together, the band was attached with the *right* side of the band to the *wrong* side of the skirt. Once turned and pressed to the outside, I was able to turn under the top edge and top stitch it in place.I will be making a knit top in coral to coordinate with the skirt sometime this week. When I get both pieces finished, I'll post pictures of me wearing both.
Now, back to prepping more GP pieces for quilting!
Parting Shot: Done! My children finished their quilt a while ago, and I don't think I ever showed the final product. Here they are with the quilt they call Mr. Tynan, named in honor of their grandparent's Siamese cat, Tynan. They did all of the work themselves, except for the overall quilting. My daughter even couched yarn to make whiskers for the cat.

The skirt is beautiful. I love the fabric.
Your children did such a great job with their quilt.
What a great job your kids did! And look at the first photo of the entire quilt. Your daughter's feet look like the cat is going to walk away, LOL.
I like what you did with the skirt, a very simple pattern that really kicked it up.
Really cute skirt and the quilt is awesome! Did they make it for someone or are they sharing it?
Wow! What more can I say! Wow!

That lighweight fabric really suits the skirt style - lovely!
Great skirt! The picture from the magazine is terrible though - what is with that top?
Two great projects! I'm liking yellow more and more these days, but I have yet to buy yellow fabric.
Mr. Tynan looks fantastic.
A very pretty, feminine skirt. And congratulations on your talented children!
The skirt turned out very nice. But this time your children out shine you. Hard to believe. But thier quilt is adorable. Now I am a grandmother (of 8) and have two siamese cats- so admit some prejudice. But I love thier quilt. So very impressive. I love it. I'll have to see if you named the pattern in your original blog. Cute, cute, cute.
What a wonderful quilt your children made, it's fabulous.
Love the skirt too, very summery.
Sorry to say but the kids beat you today! You must be very proud of them.
Summerset .- I am going to remedy the delay I have read your interesting posts, and first, I congratulate her on her skirt. yes, looks like a vintage model, including support tissue chosen. The quilt made by her children, well, I am with her mouth open to admire the talent and patience of these "two", so congratulations to them.
I have also updated the news of his next project of art-wear. everything seems geared toward a new success.
finally, the admiration for the simplicity of her daughter dressed. the result is magnificent and her daughter have an appreciation for things well done.
Best wishes,
Paco
