Easter Dress - Part 1

Introduction

It's that time of year when I need to start on my daughter's yearly Easter dress. This year we chose the model shown below from Patrones. I realize that the pattern really is a tunic, but if you lengthen it, you have a dress.

The tunic has front and back yokes, with more pleats in the front than the back. As soon as I saw the style I knew my daughter would like it.

I'll be using a green silk and ivory lining. These photos are not the best, but you'll see more of this in coming posts, so I'll be able to show you the color a bit better.

I also have this trim for the front band that I bought a quite a few years ago, probably when she was two or three years old.

I think this will be pretty and age appropriate for her. See, I told you this was better than the rabbits!

Parting Shot: Sweater. Some assembly required. I hope to start this after the current socks and have it ready to wear sometime this summer. The yarn is a merinol silk blend by Manos del Uruguay.

Great idea for her dress, and I love that silk yarn.

Great pattern choice for the dress.

That will make a cute dress. I would think you're more than ready to sew something without tails and ears by now!

That pattern in those fabrics will be gorgeous. I love the trim and the combination is so pretty.

I was just thinking the other day that it must be time for some Easter outfits. The plans for DD look very nice. Pretty colour.

I'm sure you've gotten this a lot, but I'm still kinda new to your blog so I just have to ask: How on EARTH do you manage to do so much incredible sewing AND fabulous knitting, all the while with a family you are obviously, wonderfully, very much engaged with?

I stand in awe of you.

Not to mention blog about it super-regularly! I have a terrible time with that.

I think my dd (although, as she approaches 13, I wonder who that child in her body IS, at times) would like that pattern also. I certainly do!
Brocadegoddess,
I took a quick look at your blog, and my goodness! All that stitching by hand, by candlelight??!!??? I agree that Summerset's projects are awesome, but your's were/are also!!!

Summerset.-
a good choice, no doubt.

I have seen the page of "Manos del Uruguay" with my sister and she is interested to know where you bought the yarn. I could not find any online store.

greetings, Paco

Ooh - that tunic is going to make such a lovely dress! The billow sleeves and bow belt are great touches. Can't wait to see it once you work your magic on it! :)
