Progress - Finally!
I finally have the jacket ready for lining!
It seems like this jacket hasn't moved along very quickly. I've been very busy with other things, and the whole process is time consuming. I do know that good results take patience and time, but now I'm ready to finish this up! I have the next two days off from work (basketball tournament in another state), so I should be able to finish the jacket this weekend. Q/A: Many of you asked why I wasn't teaching next year. I have chosen not to teach next year for personal family reasons. My children are getting older, and contrary to popular belief, we're finding that they actually need more parental attention rather than less. This is difficult to do when both parents work and/or have long commutes. It is not that I don't like teaching, if I didn't, I would have quit after my first year, the 93-94 school year. Why have a career you don't love? It is not that I don't like my work environment, in fact, my colleagues and I get along rather well, more like a family than just coworkers.
Parting Shot: Another lost tooth. The tooth fairy had to work overtime this month - the two top front teeth are now missing. So much for eating whole apples!

Gosh, you're definitely right about kids needing MORE supervision as they get older. I only wish more parents would realize this! Your jacket is looking great!
I think it is not just the kids that need that time together, the mum needs more time with her children as well. They are young for such a short time and it is sad to miss out on being there with them.
Your jacket is comming along nicely...almost there.
I love the lace look against the velvet. Really pretty. I'm glad you're going to get to spend more time with your family!
Good for you for recognizing that they need more of you. I found out the same thing as my girls got older. Your son is so cute missing his teeth and your jacket is looking great. g
Your jacket is wonderful. Love the contrast.
And yes, I'm also one of those who think that it's a good thing to be at home more when the children are growing up and agree with Vicky that it's important for mum as well.
You will miss your colleagues from time to time, but you'll probably have more sewing time!
It looks beautiful already! I love the contrast
Yes, nothing campares to family time! Last summer, I heard a great sermon on the value of being able to recognize what "season" you and your family are in, and nurturing that. Congrats on your decision.
Your jacket is coming along beautifully, Summerset.
I am happy that your decision is a happy one!
I do not have children, but I admire your decision to be with them. You will "build" better children, and certainly many memories of this time.
Oh, the jacket is becoming more and more beautiful!
I admire your decision too and I know it's the right decision to make given the world we all live in. If you can afford being a full time mom, just go ahead!
I just ended three years of part-time teaching at the end of the fall semester. I have a 17 year old and a 14 year old. I can easily fill my days with family obligations, and love it.
My son leaves for college in the fall, and I don't regret one moment of my sacrificed career.
Enjoy them. It's over in the blink of an eye.
You are very fortunate to be able to stay at home with your children. That option wasn't open to me, being a single parent. Your children seem very sweet and I know they will appreciate having you more available.
Oh, what a beautiful jaket! The lace looks great.
Summerset .- looks very well this jacket with lace edging. Congratulations. Sincerely, Paco
