Variation on BWOF 9/07, #134
For this year's annual Christmas dress, my daughter chose the Roma e Toska dress from BWOF, 9/07, #134. I already made her one version of the dress, but since she liked it so much we decided to make it again, but with some modifications. The fabrics I'm using include black velveteen, ivory taffeta and a black flocked organza with some sparkles. In combination, the taffeta and organza have produced a grey color, as seen below.
I also found the buttons below for the cuffs:
The modifications to the original were requests of my daughter. She wanted a plain front and a center back zipper. To do so, I just placed the center front on the fold and cut one piece. For the back, I added a seam allowance to the center back and divided the back skirt panel into two equal pieces, thus providing a seam for the zipper.
Here's what I've done so far:
This dress needs to be done by Friday, because she needs to wear it in a concert Friday night. It's coming along, but still needs the zipper finished (it is only halfway in!), the lining inserted, the sleeves finished and the hems put in. If all goes according to schedule (good luck, right?), it should be done Thursday night. I hope so - she will be in three concerts in the next week, so it's about time I get the dress done!Parting Shot: Treats! Max loves treats, and Kiwi does, too. Here my daughter is trying to get Max to sit up for the treat.

Lovely dress - little girl chic! What type of concert? Choral? Band?
Lovely dress! But when did you get the time to do that!? Hope it all goes smoothly for finishing by Thursday!
Summerset you are a much better photographer than I am because those are the buttons that are on my Simplicity 3631 jacket! Ohmygosh, where did you find them? They will look great on your daughter's dress!
Lovely fabric combinations. I don't have a little girl to sew for any more and I love the BWOF children's fashions. DD would have loved this dress.
Lovely dress and really festive fabric. Your daughter will look great in it.
The dress is looking good so far! Your daughter sure is developing a sense of style. :)
