Jackpot!

My mother happened to run across some vintage patterns and a whole lot of Threads back issues! These are the "old" Threads before there were some changes in staff/article content. There's 43 of these! Some of them have articles on Schiaparelli and Vionnet, too! I am thrilled!

She also found these two vintage patterns for me:

The one with the pointed waist and neckline is fabulous!

Parting Shots: Yesterday we went to the Air Museum at the Air Force Base in Warner Robbins, GA. My dad is retired career military, so it was neat to see all the planes that he's flown in and the equipment he's worked on. Here's my son in a fighter jet cockpit, having fun; my dad in front of the same style jeep and equipment he used to use; lastly, my son again, you can barely see him sitting between the props of the very large airplane.

The patterns are wonderful and I bet there are loads to read in those Threads! Your mother is very thoughtful. Looks like you're all enjoying your holidays. :)

What luck! I have Threads issues back to 1992. Sometimes when I can't sleep I pull out some of the older issues and read them. It makes me miss the "good old days" of Threads

Those patterns look lovely - I'm very envious!
I used to read back issues of Threads when I worked at a university with a good textile studies program. That might be a good source for readers without the advantage of your mother. :)

Isn't it wonderful that you and your kids are getting to witness with your parents some of your shared heritage? It's something the kids won't forget.
And that is just fabulous of your mom to bequeath you the Threads issues. Good thing you're driving ;)
