New Vogues!

My picks:

[Editor's note: Sorry about the pictures being cut off on the right side! Strange things happen when you resize. I did provide the links for these patterns, so you can view the whole picture and the line drawings]

It's a no brainer that I'd pick these two, 2960 and 2962, given my love for this particular vintage shape:

Vogue 2966 is really lovely, perfect for all sorts of summer events and I like that fact that it includes a jacket.

Vogue has also given us more cute summer dresses, with 8379, 8380 and 8386. Matte jersey and silk jersey are the suggested fabrics for 8379 and 8386, and Ann has some really nice ones!

I like the top from this set, 2971 - it wraps around and ties in the back, which is perfect for my body shape.

I'll be doing some flying this spring and need a new bag, so 8406 appeals to me. The bag is roomy, but not overly huge. It should be a good proportion for my body size.

Do check out the rest of the patterns - these are the ones that struck me right away. Others might grow on me - I'll have to wait and see. There seems to be plenty of variety in the 48 new patterns they've released, so there is a pattern for every taste and body type!

Parting Shots: Look what we woke up to this morning, and found at school this morning. You've got to be kidding, right?!? No, we've got 4 to 8 inches of snow forecast between today and tomorrow morning. It's still snowing now, as I look out the window. If you look closely at the last picture, you can actually see the snowflakes in the air.

The bodice for my weather inappropriate Easter dress is done, and I've started work on the skirt - there will be a post and pictures tomorrow. You know, this always seems to happen to me for Easter. You'd think I learn my lesson and make a long sleeved suit out of the vintage light kiwi green wool I have in my stash. I'm actually still waiting for "the right pattern", for that fabric.

Greetings,

I am a relatively new reader of your blog and I've been enjoying it immensely. Is it just me or is there a similiarity between Vogue 8386 and the dress Laura Bennet made for herself during Season 3 of Project Runway?

Nice picks! I love your first choice! One of these days I'll make a vintage dress like that just for fun! And I'll be asking your advice on how to make a crinoline!

When I saw the new Vogue vintage-type dress I thought of you and how these would be great additions to your collection!

Hey, chocolate brown stretch lycra may not actually provide warmth, but I imagine that it will provide the ambience of warmth. Best of wishes on finishing up the Easter outfit(s).

You will have to come and visit me for Easter - we are expecting a beautiful 23c (74f).

I like your choice in patterns. It really does look as though dresses will be around for a while yet.

Hi Summerset!
The first one is my favourite as well (and I immediately thought about you as well, when I first saw it!). I really like the first 3, but as for the rest of the new collection... Most of them are nice, but I often have an impression of déjà vu...

I still have V2902 to make... When I'm done with it, I may treat myself with V2960. Don't you just love those pleats!

Feel free to come to Paris for Easter. Should be sunny and mild!
